DRAGONRAPTOR

Episode 4
Azure Dragon Empire
Chapter 1 – Kyeran's Journey (part 2)
The moist air of the Seigoku mountains was pierced by the screech of an osprey. As the raptor snatched a fish from a cold lake, another raptor appeared. A hunter of far more dangerous game.
Kyeran looked up to the vast blizzard-capped peaks in the distance. In the grey mist of the cold dawn, it eerily resembled his pack’s summer home in the Starglacier peaks far away. The sickle-taloned raptor watched an icy blue phoenix fly to the peaks, then began a descent down to the clouded forest.
The lowlands here were thousands of feet in elevation above the Nahelan jungles and Alityan plains. Seigoku’s forests were mixed fern and broadleaf, with woody climbers very common in the warmer regions. Kyeran knew, from seasonal migrations with his pack, that in such habitats large prey was often more concealed and widely spaced than in more constant habitats. He would spend a few days staking out different territories.
Kyeran took flight and skimmed over the lake surface, watching the fish scatter beneath his shadow. That might mean they had a predator in this area within his size range – something to look out for. He raised his eyes to see slightly further ahead and caught sight of a large koi barely break the surface of the water. It hadn’t noticed him yet. In a burst of speed, Kyeran flew just above the water, and in a fraction of a blink, uncurled his talons and snatched the fish into his feet.
He landed on a cedar tree and began stripping the koi of its skin. Below, in a secluded valley, was another human nest. A small village situated in a cresent-shaped gorge carved by a glacier that had not too long ago retreated back to the mountainside. Along the distant cliffs were the signature shapes of wyvern and pterosaur nests, and at the head of the valley, Its base carved from the mountainside, an azure-roofed castle stood at watch over a giant fjord.
